Recurrent in the series Here we are now are expressions of idleness, the act of waiting (whether or not fueled by) the urge for entertainment. The video Here we are now #1 portraits an awaiting crowd on the side of the road. They appear in the shot in a sliding matter that resembles the opening of the grand drape of a theater stage. During the course of the video is stays unclear what they are expecting as they leave their windy positions with no reward of their patience. I have transformed the spectators role from restless observers into the spectacle itself. The clothing of the ignorant individuals is miraculously color-matching the two multicolored towers situated in the back. This contributes to the scripted-feel of this real life situation.
